Flash Express and GCash launch Scan on Delivery for seamless, hassle–free delivery payments

(L-R) GCash distribution cluster head Antonio Concepcion, enterprise sales head Kim Pineda, and B2B commercial head Martin Limgenco, with Flash Express finance director Cao Yuan, operations deputy director Martin Eusebio, and communications and government relations deputy director Rex Pumihic

To digitize payments and disbursements in the logistics space, Flash Express, one of the country's fastest-growing logistics providers; and GCash, the country’s leading finance app and largest cashless ecosystem, have teamed up to introduce Scan on Delivery, a solution designed to make deliveries more seamless for customers and significantly ease the payment acceptance for delivery riders.

The partnership provides a timely solution to the common challenges of cash-on-delivery (COD), a payment method that remains popular among online shoppers. By introducing Scan on Delivery, customers can pay instantly upon receiving their parcels by scanning a GCash QR code, eliminating the need for physical cash exchange.

This digital payment option also helps alleviate the pressure on delivery riders, who often encounter issues such as a lack of exact change, bill splitting, and the risk of carrying cash. It also simplifies the remittance process, reducing the need for manual deposits and enabling riders to focus more on delivering efficient service.

Scan on Delivery also improves efficiency, enhances safety for both parties, and helps accelerate the shift toward more digital payment habits. The partnership also introduces Webpay, which allows users to conveniently pay through the Flash Express app using GCash, offering a smoother online experience.

Beyond payments, Flash Express has adopted GCash’s Funds Disbursement solution to manage rider commissions. This enables automated and timely payouts directly to riders’ GCash wallets, streamlining compensation and removing the need for over-the-counter cash releases.

“Flash Express, as a highly tech-advanced and fully integrated logistics company, is always on the lookout for timely yet effective innovations and solutions not only for our customers but also for our logistics operations. The Scan on Delivery partnership with GCash will simplify and speed up the collection and remittance of our delivery riders. On the other hand, customers who are familiar with the different payment solutions of GCash will now get to experience the same customer journey whenever they use the service of Flash Express. Overall, this partnership also aims to provide knowledge to customers on digital payment solutions in the e-commerce logistics space,” said Flash Express Communications and Government Relations Deputy Director Reginald Rex Pumihic.

For GCash for Business Commercial Head Martin Limgenco, this strategic collaboration further emphasizes GCash’s role in making Filipino lives easier every day. “Scan on Delivery powered by GCash— Not only are we innovating this critical step-change on how our customers make their payments for cash on delivery, but we are also increasing security and reducing risk for both our partner and their customers. I would like to congratulate Flash Express for embracing this change — you guys are truly pioneers in this field.”

By embedding cashless solutions into logistics, GCash is leading the way in transforming deliveries by making payments simpler, faster, and more secure.

3 Common Logistics Mistakes You Might Be Doing for Your Biz

The thrill of opening your dream business is exciting. But when it comes to operations, logistics might not always be top of mind for budding business owners.

You might be focused on product development and sales, have limited resources, or find the entire concept of logistics too complex. However, its importance is often overstated. It encompasses many aspects, from storing materials and finished products and managing your stocks to fulfilling orders and moving products.

If you’re a budding entrepreneur, here are three mistakes you might be making when it comes to logistics and how you can avoid them:

Not Keeping Track of Your Inventory

Say you are a pet supply store owner and a specific dog toy suddenly became popular on social media. You see a steady increase in interest but run out of stocks over the weekend, so customers decide to check out other stores instead.

If you sell essential goods, the window of opportunity to regain your customers may be short – they might come back next week to see if you’ve restocked. However, if you sell durable or non-essential items, a lost customer might not need to return for months or even years.

On the other hand, overstocking can also be costly as excess stock incurs storage costs. Over time, slow-moving or non-moving stocks may have less value and can become an added burden.

Keeping stocks at a healthy level will help you plan your purchasing strategies and reduce costs. To help you ensure you have enough inventory on hand to meet customer demand and streamline your operations, consider tapping a fulfillment service that can handle multiple aspects of fulfillment from picking orders to packing them.

Not Optimizing Your Distribution

Imagine you’re a small business owner selling handcrafted wallets and you have a bulk order from a couple who’s set to get married next week. Relying on less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping might seem economical, but you will have to wait for other shipments, potentially delaying your delivery. Your deliveries arrived last minute – but the damage has been done, and you have a bridezilla giving you negative reviews.

It is essential to take time to optimize your distribution method or partner with a reliable delivery trucking service that has key distribution points.

Not Anticipating Seasonal Surges

Planning for day-to-day operations is essential for any business, but anticipating how different occasions or seasons can impact your business takes careful planning. Failure to account for seasonal surges can lead to unpredictable demands, sales disruptions, and stockouts.

Picture this: you’re a health supplement retailer. It’s only October but you know that as soon as the new year enters, most people are starting their wellness journey and there might be a demand for fitness-related products. Come January and you don’t have enough stocks of your popular supplements, you may have to deal with the aftermath of negative reviews by disappointed customers, which may also deter potential ones.

You can maximize sales during peak seasons by proactively planning for seasonal surges even before they happen and having an effective restocking method that can help you plan ahead.

A Reliable Partner to Level Up Your Logistics Game

The complexities of logistics can often feel daunting. Instead of figuring out things on your own, you can partner with a reliable logistics solutions provider like Ninja Van Philippines, which offers a comprehensive suite of solutions to streamline your operations and help you avoid common logistical pitfalls.

With Ninja Van Fulfillment service, you can keep your products safe and secure within state-of-the-art logistics and warehousing distribution centers until they’re ready for shipping. Say goodbye to manually processing orders and counting inventories, as Ninja Fulfillment can fulfill, pack and pick for your orders.

Ninja Van’s equipment such as the Dimension Weighing and Scanning, automated rollers, conveyors, and multipurpose mobile scanners are designed to provide an accurate movement of your inventory, allowing you to access a Live View of your inventory with real-time updates.

On the other hand, Ninja Restock provides flexibility for small businesses to do smaller, frequent restocks without the need to pay for an entire truck. Smaller load requirements and frequent drop-offs allow you to deliver nationwide, whether daily, weekly, or twice a week, while only paying for the space your products occupy in Ninja Van’s trucks.

Ninja Restock also leverages its established nationwide network, including key distribution points of 40 warehouses from Batanes to Tawi-Tawi. With its 100% coverage nationwide, you can be assured of reliable and timely deliveries to your distribution and retail partners. When coupled with thorough planning, this would be beneficial during seasonal fluctuations or the need to restock popular items right on time.

In the competitive world of entrepreneurship, efficiency is key. By entrusting your logistics needs to a reliable logistics partner like Ninja Van, you can optimize your operations, avoid common pitfalls, and focus on what truly matters – building a successful and sustainable business.

SEC approval of global stock trading sandbox paves way for GStocks Global launch

(L-R) GCash chief regulatory officer Atty. Cef Sison, wealth management general manager Arjun Varma and vice president and new businesses group head Winsley Bangit with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairperson and CEO Atty. Emilio Aquino, commissioner Atty. McJill Bryant Fernandez, commissioner Atty. Javey Paul D. Francisco, and Philippine Fintech Innovations Office director Atty. Paolo Ong.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has paved the way for Filipinos to invest in some of the world’s biggest companies after it approved the regulatory sandbox for local players like GCash to offer global stock investments.

This initiative marks a pioneering step toward making global investing more accessible and seamless for Filipinos, while upholding strong safeguards and regulatory oversight to protect users.

While many Filipinos are eager to invest in global companies, they often face challenges such as complicated account setups, foreign currency requirements, and unfamiliar platforms. These barriers can make global investing seem daunting and out of reach. GStocks Global aims to break down these obstacles by providing a simple, secure, and locally regulated way for users to invest in global stocks using Philippine Pesos, right within the app.

This move also supports the broader mission of GCash to democratize investing by lowering the long-standing barriers that have kept global markets out of reach for most Filipinos.

“We’re proud to be working closely with the SEC to ensure this offering meets the highest standards of safety and compliance. The sandbox allows us to test and learn while putting user protection at the core. For the first time, Filipinos can access global stock markets through a platform they already trust—GCash,” said GCash vice president and head of new businesses Winsley Bangit.

With the sandbox in place, GCash, through a partnership with EasyEquities, will enable users to buy and sell shares of select global companies using Philippine Pesos, with no need for a US Dollar account or separate platform.

“This offering will initially be in a test phase within a sandbox environment and will only be available to select, eligible users. This phased rollout allows GCash and its partners to ensure quality and gather valuable feedback while ensuring regulatory safeguards remain in place,” said Bangit.

The offering marks the first time Filipinos can explore global investing in a way that is both convenient and fully integrated within a local fintech platform. This initiative also reinforces GCash’s commitment to ‘Finance for All’, ensuring that more Filipinos can participate in global markets with tools that are simple, safe, and designed with local needs in mind.

As it continues its evolution as the country’s leading finance app, GCash extends the boundaries of what everyday users can achieve with just a few taps and brings global wealth-building within reach. For more information, please visit www.gcash.com.

“In today’s evolving threat landscape, securing user productivity and sensitive data requires a unified strategy that considers both outsider threats and insider risks,” said Nirav Shah, Senior Vice President, Products and Solutions at Fortinet. “Cybercriminals are aiming their efforts right at users and increasingly leveraging tools like FraudGPT, BlackmailerV3, and ElevenLabs to automate the creation of malware, deepfake videos, phishing websites, and synthetic voices—making attacks more scalable, convincing, and difficult to detect. With our expanded AI-powered FortiMail Workspace Security suite and FortiDLP solutions, Fortinet empowers organizations to stay ahead of threat actors and insider risks while ensuring users, data, and productivity remain secure.”

AI-Powered Defense for Communication, Collaboration, and Data Security

Today’s hybrid workforce relies heavily on SaaS and collaboration tools, increasing both productivity and the attack surface. As users interact with sensitive data across these platforms, organizations must address threats to both users and data in tandem. The 2025 Fortinet Global Threat Landscape Report highlights the rise of AI-enabled cybercrime, with attackers using automation to launch more convincing phishing, impersonation, and account takeover campaigns.

Fortinet’s enhanced workspace security solutions meet this challenge head-on with AI-powered protection across email, browsers, and collaboration environments, defending against external and internal threats wherever work happens. This spans the full spectrum of user interactions and data movement across the digital workspace:

Email security, evolved: With the acquisition and integration of Perception Point—recognized as a Visionary in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Email Security1—Fortinet has significantly expanded the capabilities of the FortiMail email security platform, establishing it as the industry’s broadest and most customizable solution. FortiMail can address any email security needs, including inbound, outbound (including relays), and internal mail protection, with flexible deployment options across appliances, virtual machines, hosted services, and SaaS. It offers multiple operating modes—gateway, server, ICES, and hybrid—and features both a highly configurable UI and a streamlined SaaS experience.

Extending security to collaboration tools: The FortiMail Workspace Security suite expands protection beyond email to web browsers and collaboration tools, enabling organizations to stop sophisticated threats across platforms like Microsoft 365 and Teams, Google Workspace, and Slack. It blocks evasive web-based attacks, hidden malware in shared files, and malicious links sent through chat and collaboration apps. The platform also enhances visibility into user activity across cloud environments, helping security teams detect and prevent account takeovers before they escalate. A built-in, 24x7 managed incident response service supports rapid threat analysis and containment to reduce operational load on SOC teams.

Smarter defense for critical data: FortiDLP strengthens this offering by adding advanced capabilities like secure data flow with data lineage and sequence detection, providing security and insider risk teams with detailed tracking of sensitive data from its source, capturing how that data is used and manipulated by users, and automatically correlating user activities to detect high-risk behavior that warrants further investigation. Whether monitoring for unauthorized sharing of confidential information through cloud drives or preventing the exposure of sensitive data to unsanctioned SaaS and GenAI platforms, FortiDLP delivers the context and control needed to protect sensitive data, including intellectual property.

Unified Protection for a Hybrid World

With these latest enhancements, Fortinet redefines the way organizations protect users and data in the modern workspace. By combining the power of AI with integrated email, browser, collaboration, and data security, Fortinet delivers the visibility, control, and response speed security teams need, turning complexity into clarity and threats into just another task handled.

PNP-ACG and GCash target cybercriminals in joint social media patrols

As part of its ongoing campaign to patrol social media platforms to reinforce public trust and ensure the security of cashless transactions, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG), in collaboration with GCash, recently apprehended multiple suspects involved in cyber-related crimes that include child exploitation and illegal sale of pre-registered SIM cards.

criminal-handcuffs

In one undercover operation, officers intercepted an individual accused of trafficking a minor through a widely used online platform. The suspect allegedly arranged a meeting between the victim and a client at a hotel, unaware that law enforcement had been tracking the illegal activity. The operation, conducted by the PNP-ACG’s Anti-Trafficking in Persons/Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (Anti-TIP/OSAEC) team, successfully rescued the victim and placed the suspect in custody under Republic Act 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003), as amended by Republic Act 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012).

Meanwhile, officers have intercepted multiple suspects engaging in the illegal sale of pre-registered SIM cards, a known tool for financial fraud and online scams. Law enforcement flagged transactions where registered SIMs were being sold on social media, offering anonymity for scammers operating in digital spaces. Several individuals were arrested under Republic Act 11934 (SIM Registration Act) in relation to Republic Act 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), ensuring fraudulent activities tied to untraceable identities are curtailed. Additionally, violations under the Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA) were noted in separate busts targeting cyber-enabled fraud schemes.

In response to these cyber threats, GCash reiterates its commitment to ensure that digital innovations remain a tool for empowerment rather than exploitation. As a trusted financial platform, GCash continues to work alongside authorities to safeguard users and uphold a secure, cashless ecosystem.

Both PNP-ACG and GCash urge the public to exercise caution when conducting financial transactions online, particularly on social media platforms. Suspicious activities may be reported to PNP-ACG via hotline numbers (02) 8414-1560 or 0998-598-8116, or through email at acg@pnp.gov.ph. GCash users may also file a report through the GCash Help Center at help.gcash.com, by messaging Gigi on the GCash website and typing “I want to report a scam,” or by calling 2882 for the GCash hotline.

To enhance security, GCash continues to remind users never to share their MPINs or OTPs with anyone and to avoid clicking suspicious links that could lead to phishing attempts or unauthorized account access. The company reiterates that it will never send private messages requesting personal information.
