Scottie Thompson, Scotty Pippen Jr. unite at vivo x NBA event

Two accomplished point guards from different sides of the basketball world came together as special guests at the vivo x NBA Meet & Greet, where PBA star Scottie Thompson joined Memphis Grizzlies guard Scotty Pippen Jr. on July 30 at vivo Concept Store, SM Megamall, sharing insights on leadership, perseverance, and life on and off the court.

The event carried special personal significance for Thompson, who revealed that he was named after Pippen Jr.'s father, six-time NBA champion Scottie Pippen, because of his own father's admiration for the Chicago Bulls legend.

"It's truly an honor to meet Scotty. I'm sure my dad would be very proud," Thompson shared during his onstage conversation with host KC Montero, describing the encounter as a full-circle moment.

The admiration was mutual. When asked about meeting Thompson during his visit to the Philippines, Pippen Jr. said he was equally amazed by the story behind the PBA star's name.

"Definitely cool. He's a cool dude and a super accomplished player. Just hearing all the accolades he's achieved is surreal. It's also crazy that he was named after my dad and now, years later, we're both here together. It's really cool to meet someone like that," Pippen Jr. shared.

The exclusive gathering, held at the vivo Concept Store in SM Megamall on July 30, gave fans a rare opportunity to interact with two elite point guards whose basketball journeys have inspired countless athletes in their respective leagues.

Two point guards, one passion

Throughout the afternoon, Thompson and Pippen Jr. reflected on the experiences that shaped their careers and the values that continue to guide them as leaders on the court.

Pippen Jr. looked back on the perseverance that helped him reach the NBA, beginning with Vanderbilt University before joining the Los Angeles Lakers in 2022 as a two-way player then working his way through the NBA G League and eventually earning a spot with the Memphis Grizzlies.

"The main thing for me is confidence. In college, I was the best player on my team, but when I got to the NBA, you kind of start at the bottom. Just working hard every day, instilling confidence in yourself, knowing you belong, and believing you should be there really helped me," Pippen Jr. shared.

Thompson, meanwhile, shared how years of hard work transformed him from a collegiate standout into a PBA Most Valuable Player, multiple-time champion, and one of the country's premier floor generals.

"For me, I just keep pushing myself every single day. I keep working hard. It shows in my game because what I do in practice is the same thing I bring onto the court," Thompson said.

Although their journeys unfolded in different leagues and basketball cultures, both stars shared the same message: success comes from hard work, perseverance, discipline, and putting the team above yourself.

The conversation also gave fans a glimpse into what it takes to become an elite point guard. While their paths have been different, both emphasized that leadership, making the right decisions under pressure, and helping teammates succeed are qualities that transcend any league or level of competition.

Connecting with Filipino fans

Fans became part of the conversation during an interactive Q&A session, where they asked both athletes about basketball, their personal interests, and the lessons they've learned throughout their careers.

When asked by a fan who had the biggest influence on his basketball journey, Pippen Jr. immediately credited his father.

"My biggest influence on my basketball journey is my dad. Growing up with someone who played in the NBA and has so much knowledge of the game, he was always pouring into me, giving me advice and tips that I still use to this day," Pippen Jr. shared.

Thompson also gave fans a glimpse of the person behind the athlete. When asked what might surprise people about him, the PBA star answered with a smile: "I'm a family man."
The simple yet heartfelt response drew smiles from the audience and reminded fans that, beyond his accomplishments on the court, Thompson takes the greatest pride in being a family-oriented person.

Both players also expressed their appreciation for Filipino basketball fans, praising the country's unmatched passion for the sport and the energy that filled the venue throughout the afternoon.

Is the vivo V70 FE worth your money? Real users weigh in

Two Metro Manila users shared how the vivo V70 FE has supported their daily routines, offering insights into whether the smartphone delivers value for different lifestyles.

When choosing a smartphone, buyers often ask the same question: Is it worth the investment? While specifications provide one perspective, everyday experiences often reveal how a device performs in real-life situations.

For 24-year-old TikTok content creator Mary Jane Alquiza, the vivo V70 FE has become her primary tool for creating content. She recently shared sample photos captured using the smartphone on TikTok, where the post has garnered more than 8,000 views.

Alquiza said the device's 200MP OIS ultra-clear camera with 30x AI Telephoto Enhancement enables her to capture detailed photos and videos with natural colors, reducing the need for additional equipment during shoots. She also uses the smartphone to edit content, communicate with brand partners, and manage her social media accounts while on the go.

"The vivo V70 FE has made my daily routine much more convenient. I use it to create and edit content, communicate with brands, and manage my social media accounts all in one device. Its reliable performance, long battery life, and excellent camera help me stay productive and creative wherever I am," Alquiza said.

The camera is designed for users who want detailed images with minimal effort. Its 200MP OIS ultra-clear camera produces sharp photos that retain clarity even after cropping, while optical image stabilization helps minimize blur when capturing moving subjects.

The device's battery performance also stood out for Clarie Jane G. Solis, a 32-year-old housewife. She said the smartphone's 7,000mAh BlueVolt battery allows her to stay connected throughout the day without worrying about frequent charging, while its IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance provides added confidence during everyday use.

To complement its large battery, the vivo V70 FE supports 90W FlashCharge, allowing the device to recharge in about an hour. Combined with its durability features, the smartphone is built to support users with active schedules who need reliable performance throughout the day.

To demonstrate their experiences, both Alquiza and Solis shared sample photos taken using their vivo V70 FE. Their submissions highlight how the smartphone's 200MP OIS ultra-clear camera delivers detailed, sharp images across different everyday scenarios, from content creation to personal photography.

Liu Lu, vivo Philippines Brand Marketing Director, said real user experience remain one of the most meaningful ways to evaluate a smartphone. "While technical specifications are important, how a device performs in everyday situations ultimately helps consumers determine whether it provides value for their needs."

See how X300 Ultra is made with Anne Curtis at vivo Global HQ

Most people experience a smartphone only after it reaches store shelves. Few ever get the chance to see what happens before that.

During her recent trip to Dongguan, China, actress and vivo Philippines ambassador Anne Curtis stepped inside vivo Global Headquarters for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how the vivo X300 Ultra comes to life. From intelligent manufacturing to imaging innovation, the visit offered a rare glimpse into technology, craftsmanship, and people behind vivo's latest flagship smartphone.

For Anne, it was an opportunity to discover the story behind every photo, long before the shutter button is ever pressed.

Where innovation comes to life

Walking through vivo Global Headquarters' production facility, Anne watched as smartphones after smartphones moved through the production line with remarkable precision. Robotic arms assembled components with millimeter accuracy while engineers carefully monitored every stage to ensure each device met vivo standards.

Throughout Amid the synchronized movement of machines and people, one detail stood out: powered by advanced manufacturing technology, a new vivo smartphone is produced every 11.4 seconds.

The impressive pace reflects vivo's manufacturing capabilities, combining intelligent automation with meticulous quality control to deliver smartphones to users around the world.

Anne also discovered that building the vivo X300 Ultra goes far beyond efficient manufacturing.

Before reaching consumers, every flagship device undergoes multiple rounds of testing for performance, durability, and imaging excellence. Each stage is carefully designed to ensure the X300 Ultra delivers the premium experience expected from vivo's flagship X Series, from everyday reliability to professional-grade imaging performance.

Witnessing the process firsthand offered Anne a deeper appreciation for the engineering, craftsmanship, and attention to detail invested in every flagship smartphone.

The technology behind every great shot

As someone who has spent years in front of the camera, one part of the experience resonated with Anne the most: discovering what powers the vivo X300 Ultra's imaging system.

She learned more about ZEISS, the world-renowned German optics brand with more than 180 years of expertise in precision imaging and lens innovation.

The global partnership between vivo and ZEISS combines decades of optical excellence with advanced smartphone engineering to push the boundaries of mobile photography. Together, they continue to unlock a new era of imaging, enabling users to capture professional-quality portraits, landscapes, and everyday moments with remarkable clarity.

For Anne, it was a reminder that every memorable photo begins long before someone presses the shutter button.

A different way to see the vivo X300 Ultra

By the end of the tour, Anne walked away with more than a behind-the-scenes experience.

She gained a new appreciation for everything that happens before the vivo X300 Ultra reaches users, from intelligent manufacturing and rigorous quality testing to the innovation behind its camera system.

It's a side of smartphone technology that few people ever get to witness, making her visit to vivo Global Headquarters a rare look into the journey behind vivo's flagship imaging smartphone.

Is the vivo V70 worth your money?

Every smartphone promises great features. However, after the excitement of buying one fades, only one question remains: Was it worth it?

For most buyers, value isn't measured by a spec sheet alone. It's found in the moments when a smartphone helps you get through a busy workday, capture memories that matter, or simply keeps up with your lifestyle without missing a beat.

To answer that question, vivo spoke with three V70 users from different walks of life. While each had different priorities, they all found their own reasons why the vivo V70 has become a smartphone they genuinely enjoy using every day.

A smartphone that works as hard as you do

For Gerwin, the vivo V70's imaging system is more than just a tool for capturing moments. It also plays an important role in his daily work. Asked about his favorite feature, Gerwin said it was difficult to choose just one, but the camera stood out the most.

"Honestly, it's hard to pick just one favorite feature because the vivo V70 has so many good ones. But if I had to choose, it's definitely the camera. The quality is just superb. Whether you're doing portraits, selfies, or videos, you can really see the ZEISS optics at work," he shared.

For Gerwin, the camera isn't just for capturing beautiful moments. It has become an important part of his everyday workflow.

"It's been a lifesaver for my daily work since I constantly need to send clear product photos to clients. Some of our product chips have tiny text on the labels, and I love how the camera captures those small details without blurring out at all," he added.

Beyond helping him at work, Gerwin believes the vivo V70 delivers excellent value overall. He shared, "Every single feature delivers great value, from the detailed and crisp camera shots to the long-lasting battery and incredibly fast charging. You couldn't ask for anything more, it is definitely worth the money."

Comfort that fits everyday life

For young users, a smartphone's design and in-hand feel are just as important as its performance. For college student Thea Bañares from Bicol, the vivo V70 impressed her not only with its camera but also with its sleek and lightweight design. "I'm really satisfied with the camera, the photos look so good," she said.

Beyond its imaging capabilities, Thea also praised the phone's build and size. "Its size is just right. People even mistake it for an iPhone, and it's very comfortable for women's hands," she added. With its slim profile and comfortable grip, the vivo V70 fits seamlessly into her everyday routine, from studying to socializing.

Thea was equally impressed by the phone's 6500mAh BlueVolt battery life and smooth performance. "The battery lasts a long time, and the phone runs really smoothly," she shared.

For students like Thea, a smartphone isn't just about performance, it's about having a device that's comfortable to carry, dependable throughout the day, and ready to capture everyday memories whenever they happen.

Built for everyday reliability

For Emar Dolfo from Quezon City, a smartphone needs to consistently perform from morning until night. He usually takes photos, edits content, navigates around the city, or scrolls through social media, so reliability matters most for him.

That's why his favorite features are easy to identify: the camera and battery. He explained further, "The 50MP ZEISS triple camera and 50MP selfie camera take great photos day and night, while the 6500mAh BlueVolt battery lasts all day with 90W FlashCharge."

His experience reflects what many users look for today, a smartphone that doesn't require constant compromises between camera quality and battery life.

When asked whether he would recommend the vivo V70, Emar offered an honest answer, "Yes, if you want amazing cameras, an all-day battery, and a bright AMOLED display for around Php 35,000."

Is the vivo V70 worth your money?

Every smartphone user has different expectations. Some need a reliable work companion. Others prioritize comfort, style, and a phone that fits naturally into their everyday routine. Many simply want a device that captures great photos and lasts throughout the day.

For Gerwin, the vivo V70 became a practical tool that helps him work more efficiently. For Thea, it's a smartphone that's stylish, comfortable to use, and dependable from morning to night. For Emar, it's the confidence of having a camera and battery that consistently keeps up with his lifestyle.

Their priorities may be different, but they arrived at the same conclusion: the vivo V70 delivers value where it matters most, not just through its impressive specifications, but through the everyday experiences it enables.

The vivo V70 is available nationwide through vivo stores and official online channels, including vivo e-store, Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop at a starting price of Php 35,999. Learn more about its full features on the vivo website.

vivo V70 FE Review: A Reliable Daily Driver with Incredible Battery Life

The vivo V70 FE may not be the most powerful smartphone in its price range, but after using it as my daily driver, it's clear that this phone focuses on what matters most for everyday users—long battery life, a beautiful display, dependable cameras, and a premium design. If your daily routine revolves around social media, photography, streaming, messaging, and occasional gaming, the V70 FE delivers a smooth and enjoyable experience.

Design and Display

One of the first things you'll notice is how premium the phone feels despite housing a massive 7,000mAh battery. At only around 7.6mm thick, it doesn't feel bulky in the hand. The IP68/IP69 water and dust resistance also adds peace of mind for everyday use.

The 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display is excellent for daily content consumption. Colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, and the 120Hz refresh rate makes scrolling through Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube incredibly smooth. Outdoor visibility is also impressive thanks to its high brightness.

Performance in Daily Use

Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7360 Turbo, paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, the V70 FE handles everyday tasks effortlessly. Apps open quickly, multitasking is smooth, and switching between social media, messaging apps, and productivity tools rarely slows the phone down.

For gaming, it's capable of running titles like Mobile Legends, Call of Duty Mobile, and PUBG Mobile at respectable settings. However, if you're a competitive gamer looking for maximum graphics and frame rates, there are stronger performers in this price bracket. This is more of a balanced smartphone than a gaming-focused one.

Some highlight settings for mobile games.

For Call of Duty

For Mobile Legends

Camera Experience

Photography is where the vivo V70 FE shines. Its 200MP OIS main camera captures detailed photos with vibrant colors and reliable dynamic range, especially during daylight. Portrait mode also performs well, producing natural-looking background blur and pleasing skin tones.

The 32MP selfie camera consistently delivers sharp selfies, while the 8MP ultra-wide camera is useful for landscapes and group shots, although image quality isn't as impressive as the primary sensor.

Video recording is decent for casual creators, but stabilization and consistency are not class-leading, especially in more demanding conditions.

Some of the sample shots:

Battery Life

Battery life is easily the biggest highlight.

The 7,000mAh battery comfortably lasts well over a full day, even with heavy use that includes social media, video streaming, navigation, photography, and gaming. Light users can even stretch it close to two days on a single charge.

When it's finally time to recharge, the 90W FlashCharge quickly gets the phone back in action, making battery anxiety almost nonexistent.

Software

Running Android 16 with OriginOS 6, the software feels responsive and feature-rich. Animations are smooth, multitasking works well, and vivo includes several AI features that improve productivity and photography. While there are a few pre-installed apps, the overall software experience remains polished.

Pros

  • Outstanding battery life with a massive 7,000mAh battery

  • Fast 90W charging

  • Excellent AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate

  • Sharp and detailed 200MP main camera

  • Premium design with IP68/IP69 durability

  • Smooth everyday performance

  • Good stereo speakers and multimedia experience

Cons

  • Dimensity 7360 Turbo isn't the fastest chipset for the price

  • Ultra-wide camera quality is average

  • Gaming performance is good but not class-leading

  • No expandable storage

  • Video stabilization could be better for serious content creators

Final Verdict

After using the vivo V70 FE as my daily smartphone, it's easy to recommend for users who prioritize battery life, display quality, camera performance, and reliability over benchmark numbers.

It's not designed to be the fastest gaming phone in its segment, but for everyday use, it excels in almost every area that matters. The outstanding battery endurance, vibrant AMOLED display, dependable cameras, and premium build quality make it one of the most practical smartphones in its class.

Who should buy it?

  • Users who want exceptional battery life

  • Social media enthusiasts

  • Mobile photographers

  • Students and professionals

  • Anyone looking for a dependable all-day smartphone

Who should skip it?
If your top priority is maximum gaming performance or flagship-level video recording, there are better alternatives at a similar price. However, if you're looking for a balanced smartphone that excels in everyday use, the vivo V70 FE is an excellent choice.

Key Specifications:

Display: 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED (1260 x 2800 pixels), 120Hz refresh rate, up to 1900 nits peak brightness
