Jolina Magdangal, Dimples Romana, and Angeline Quinto share how GCash helps provide everyday gaan for moms

Jolina Magdangal, Dimples Romana, and Angeline Quinto share how GCash helps provide everyday gaan for moms
Jolina Magdangal, Dimples Romana, and Angeline Quinto share how GCash helps provide everyday gaan for moms

School’s officially back, and with it the early mornings, baon prep, never-ending shopping lists, and long days for parents – especially moms. In the newest episode of Mommy, G Ka Na?, celebrity host and mom of two Jolina Magdangal-Escueta opens up about the pressure of balancing her numerous responsibilities during the back-to-school season.

Together with guests Dimples Romana and Angeline Quinto, the candid conversation turns personal, and the three moms share personal stories, smart strategies, and comforting words for moms who may be overwhelmed with the back-to-school rush. They remind each other, “Hindi mo kailangang gawin lahat mag-isa.”

Amid the laughs and real talk, Jolina, Angeline, and Dimples reveal some of their back-to-school survival tricks.

Angeline, for example, swears by the power of a cute lunchbox (or fun shapes) to get her kids to eat.  “Kahit simpleng sandwich lang, basta cute ang baunan, ganado na agad si Sylvio,” she shares.

She and Jolina also agree that fancy recipes aren’t necessary. Instead, a little bit of creativity and a whole lot of love go a long way. As Jolina puts it, “Hindi kailangang mahal ang baon, basta punong-puno ng effort at love, ramdam ‘yan ng mga anak natin.”

Then there’s the never-ending to-do list. Groceries, bills, errands. Sometimes, when schedules get too packed, there are things forgotten along the way. For when it gets overwhelming, the three moms all agree - shopping online and paying with GCash is the ultimate lifesaver. While doing the laundry or helping with their kids’ homework, they can check off items on their grocery list without even leaving the house!

Dimples, meanwhile, brings up the challenges she faces having to keep up with the constant stream of expenses once the school year starts.  From school projects and extracurricular activities to unexpected gastos, the financial pressure doesn’t end after enrollment.

“Kala mo tapos ka na, pero may bagong shoes, uniforms, at pang-extracurricular pa pala,” she opens up. Her solution? Breaking down the big-ticket items. With GCash’s GGives, she can split purchases like gadgets or sports gear into smaller payments, with zero down payment needed.

And of course, there are the surprise expenses – like when emergencies happen. For those moments, Jolina reminds viewers that they can lean on GCredit, which provides users with a credit line of up to PHP 50,000.

For even bigger needs like tuition fees, there’s also GLoan, which lets users borrow up to PHP 150,000 instantly, with affordable terms and quick disbursement straight to their GCash wallet. “At least alam mong may masasandalan ka. Hindi ka kakabahan agad,” they agree. It's peace of mind for those who are faced with unexpected expenses before payday.

Watch Mommy, G Ka Na? online

Throughout the episodes, a recurring theme emerges: moms can learn a lot from other moms. “Okay lang humingi ng tulong,” Jolina reminds viewers. “May mga kapwa mommy, may mga tools — tulungan tayo.”

Stream Mommy, G Ka Na? on the official YouTube channel of GCash. Join the conversation online with fellow moms finding gaan and ginhawa in every stage of school-year parenting by following @gcashofficial on Instagram and Facebook

Dream It, Do It: BINI and Students #GoForIt with Globe

Globe is creating spaces where ambition meets opportunity, offering internships, mentorship, grants, volunteering, and youth-led events that spark inspiration. Globe recently launched their #GoForIt campaign with BINI, pairing eight student dreamers with the eight members of BINI, not just as stars on a pedestal, but as peers who know the same late nights, doubts, and pressures.

Together, they showed that dreams come in all shapes and sizes, whether it’s becoming a photographer, digital illustrator, model, journalist, scientist, game designer, or performer. From rocking the stage to creating the next big breakthrough, every path is worth pursuing.

“Globe not only connects people through a network, but through communities as well,” says Clareene, a Polytechnic University of the Philippines  student dreaming of becoming a digital artist.

One Beat, Many Dreams

BINI knows what it’s like to chase a dream that feels out of reach. From long training days to topping the charts, they have faced the same doubts and roadblocks as many students today.

“Kahit din may mga doubts kami nung una, since Globe believed in us, that allowed us to believe in ourselves,” shares BINI Aiah.

“‘Di kailangan magmadali para magwagi, buhay ay ‘di karera,” adds BINI Maloi, reminding everyone that life and dreams are not a race against anyone else, but a personal journey you take at your own pace.

These moments with BINI show that they’re not just stars, but young women who once dreamed like today’s students. Whether in music, medicine, entrepreneurship, or digital art, one truth stands: no matter the dream, hold on to it, and go for it.

Globe’s Game Plan for Student Success

“It’s a lasting commitment, this is Globe’s promise to give young people the tools, skills, and support to turn ambition into achievement.  We empower today’s youth through the Globe Student Program, which connects classroom learning with real-world experiences. Students can explore opportunities to join special Globe events, volunteer initiatives, and exclusive student raffles designed to inspire and engage,” says Roche Vandenberghe, Globe’s Chief Marketing Officer.

Beyond experiences, the program also unlocks Student Rewards on the GlobeOne app, where exciting perks await. From partners like Ayala Museum, Museo Pambata, beep™ card, Timezone, Jollibee, and more, students can enjoy discounts, treats, and learning experiences tailored just for them.

Simply search “Student Specials” on the Globe Rewards page in the GlobeOne app to discover offers tailored to students. Whether through reliable connectivity, learning platforms, digital tools, or mentorship, the challenge isn’t being alone, but being ready to Go For It!

The Rhythm of Ambition

Like BINI’s music, Globe’s message speaks to Filipino student youth from all walks of life. There is no single path to success, it starts with courage, grows with persistence, and flourishes when the right support is within reach. That is why #GoForIt is not just a message but a movement for every student, dreamer, and future leader to take their shot.

Alagang GCash: Strengthening commitment to employee health with comprehensive cancer care benefits

AC Health president and CEO Paolo Borromeo, and Mynt president and CEO Martha Sazon, demonstrate their commitment to the Working with Cancer Pledge during the launch of new comprehensive cancer care benefit packages for GCash employees
AC Health president and CEO Paolo Borromeo, and Mynt president and CEO Martha Sazon, demonstrate their commitment to the Working with Cancer Pledge during the launch of new comprehensive cancer care benefit packages for GCash employees

True to its mission of championing the well-being of its people, Mynt, the parent company of GCash, the Philippines’ leading finance super app, is enhancing its medical and financial support for its employees—reflecting a deep commitment to compassion and holistic care.

As part of its Alagang GCash program and to further strengthen its health and wellness campaign, this partnership with AC Health aims to ensure that GCash Kabarkadas receive comprehensive cancer care, supporting them throughout their entire treatment journey. The Healthway Medical Network will also provide essential support for the program by offering a range of preventive care and treatment services to employees, including vaccinations and health screenings at their facilities.

Developed to redefine employee support, the Alagang GCash program provides holistic care to its workforce. This comprehensive initiative addresses every aspect of well-being—financial, physical, mental, emotional, and familial—and sets a new benchmark for employee benefits in the Philippine digital finance sector.

“What we’re doing is we’re making our benefits better, especially for cancer care, so that we’re more worry-free. It’s our attempt to tell you that you’re not alone when these things happen,” said Martha Sazon, president and CEO of Mynt, the parent company of GCash.

"At Mynt, we believe that caring for our people means supporting every part of their well-being — from health to financial security, and even emotional resilience. Through Alagang GCash and our partnership with AC Health, we want our employees to feel that they are never alone in their journey, especially during life’s most difficult battles," Mynt chief people officer Robert Gonzales added.

The event brought together the Mynt leadership team and its partners to solidify its commitment through the Working with Cancer Pledge — from the cancer care standee to the ribbon pins worn proudly by its employees. The Working with Cancer Pledge rallies companies and organizations around the world to erase the stigma of cancer and create an environment where employees impacted by cancer feel supported in the workplace.

The new comprehensive cancer care benefit of Mynt includes a reimbursable allowance for cancer prevention and screening, building on the existing coverage for annual medical check-ups, vaccines, and wellness. In addition, the company will now cover any remaining cancer-related treatment and hospitalization expenses for employees that exceed their current HMO and critical illness benefits.

Employees diagnosed with cancer will also be granted an additional 60 paid leaves, while those with dependents who are battling this serious illness will be entitled to an additional 30 paid leaves so they can take care of them. These are in addition to their annual vacation leaves, sick leaves, and paid time off.

As part of its holistic approach to care, Mynt will provide access to a psychologist specialized in supporting cancer patients and employees with loved ones facing a cancer diagnosis, helping them navigate the emotional challenges and strengthen their mental well-being.

Mynt will also assign a case manager who can conduct home visits, as needed, to help patients with their recovery. Additionally, employees will have access to a pool of caregivers, if needed.

Employees diagnosed with terminal cancer may claim up to 100% of their life insurance benefit during their treatment journey.

Through Alagang GCash, the company underscores its commitment to holistic employee wellness, ensuring that every Kabarkada is supported not just at work but in their overall health and well-being.

DTI, GCash for Business fuel MSME growth with smart, easy digital financial tools

(L-R) DTI bureau of small and medium enterprise development director Emma Asusano, undersecretary Blesila Lantayona with GCash for business general manager Jong Layug, and vice president and head of public sector Cleo Celeste Santos.

In celebration of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) month, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and GCash for Business announced their partnership to support the growth of the country’s economic backbone through simple and scalable digital financial tools.

GCash for business general manager Jong Layug and DTI undersecretary Blesila A. Lantayona formalized the collaboration in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing ceremony during the MSME Bayanihan Caravan 2025 event.

By joining forces with DTI, the Philippines’ leading finance super app aims to make payment and business solutions, such as GCash SoundPay, more accessible through their to-be-launched GCash for Business Portal, allowing MSMEs in rural and underserved areas to process transactions seamlessly. The DTI will play a key role in assisting MSMEs through its regional and provincial offices, as well as over 1,100 DTI Negosyo Centers, helping businesses innovate their operations.

“Through this partnership, we will introduce tailored digital business tools that meet the needs of the millions of Filipino MSMEs. Because when MSMEs progress, livelihoods improve, and the whole nation moves forward,” Layug said.

Layug said GCash for Business seeks to empower MSMEs by transforming payment tools that many consider "not for them" into accessible, easy-to-use solutions. "While there are numerous options in the market and we know our MSMEs are resourceful and 'madiskarte,' many existing solutions can feel intimidating, expensive, and simply don’t fit where these businesses are in their journey," the GCash official stressed.

This initiative is also in line with DTI’s three key priorities: digitalization, inclusive growth, and global competitiveness. “This isn’t just about technology—it’s also about enabling resilience, providing livelihoods, opening doors for aspiring entrepreneurs in every corner of the country, and creating a future where more Filipino businesses can succeed in a digital economy,” said Lantayona, speaking on behalf of DTI secretary Cristina Roque.

In addition to the MOU signing, GCash for Business shared its financial expertise at the trade caravan, offering valuable insights on digital payments and lending to guide digitalization efforts and support business expansion.

Merchants will find it easy and simple to make their first step towards digital transformation with a new and simplified self-onboarding process through the GCash for Business Portal. They can make unlimited transfers to merchant partners and banks, track transactions in real time — all for free, all from a single platform. Complementing this is a new payment solution designed to make the processing of customer payments easier and more convenient. With the SoundPay device, merchants can now hear it when a customer pays in their store, providing them with verification that the payment has been accepted in real time. Merchants can also watch out for a soon-to-launch solution that turns the merchants’ phones into a POS machine capable of accepting credit card payments anytime, anywhere.

Through the GCash for Business Portal, merchants can choose their business plan and select their payment device, giving them flexibility as they pursue this digital journey. In the portal, merchants can track transactions in real-time, with no wallet limits (for Pro plan) and no fees! Soon, with just a fully-verified GCash account (minimum 12 months), they can already register and start using GCash for Business solutions.

“This is financial inclusion in action—giving every MSME, no matter how small or remote, a real chance to participate in and benefit from the digital economy,” said Layug.

The digital toolset stands to benefit over 1.2 million MSMEs in the Philippines, with most of them engaged in retail and restaurant businesses that require a reliable digital platform for managing payments and transactions.

However, digital adoption remains low, with only 16% of Filipino MSMEs embracing these tools, according to a Boston Consulting Group study. On a more positive note, the study also reveals that 77% of MSMEs recognize the need for these digital solutions to improve efficiency. Recognizing this gap, GCash for Business is here to support MSMEs in their digital transformation in an easy and simple way. Mapuá and other universities offer Study Now, Pay Later Program for Students through GCash

(L-R) GCash data solutions of new businesses head Oscar Pobre; iPeople Inc. dual transformation, strategy management, and business development vice president and head Mark Abalos; GCash vice president and group head of new businesses Winsley Bangit; Mapua Malayan Digital College vice president for marketing and sales Jenny Chua; iPeople Inc. president and chief operating officer Alfredo Ayala; Fuse Financing Inc. president and chief executive officer Tony Isidro, consumer lending head Paul Xavier Villa, and segment development manager Ana Cua

Higher educational institutions have teamed up with GCash, the Philippines’ leading finance superapp and largest cashless ecosystem, to launch a Study Now, Pay Later program. It is an installment-based tuition payment solution powered by Fuse Financing Inc., the lending arm of GCash, designed to help more Filipino students pursue and complete their college education by reducing the burden of upfront school fees.

With its first partner school Mapúa Malayan Digital College (MMDC), the pilot program began on July 7, 2025. MMDC, a digital-first college, offers flexible, high quality education for both full-time and working students, making it an ideal partner.

The program has since expanded to include Mapúa University, Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao, Malayan Colleges Laguna, and National Teachers College, all of which officially launched the initiative.

The tertiary education participation rate in the Philippines stands at 34.89 percent, falling short of the ASEAN regional average of 41.10 percent, according to a recent report by the Second Congressional Commission on Education. Many students who do enter college struggle to finish their degrees, with high dropout rates often tied to the rising cost of education. To support their studies, students choose to juggle school with work, with more than half of them hustling to gain financial freedom.

Tuition fees and other school expenses remain a heavy financial burden for many families, leading students to delay enrollment or settle for less-than-ideal school and program options. This is where GCash comes in, extending inclusive and fair lending products to those who need financial assistance to achieve their goal of graduating.

With the Study Now, Pay Later program, interested students or parents can pay for tuition fees and other school-related expenses in installments of up to 15 months, with no down payment or processing fees and with affordable interest rates. Customers who are not yet eligible for GGives may still apply and avail themselves of this program via the QR codes found within the vicinity of the respective partner schools.  Payments shall all be made through GGives, the installment payment feature of GCash, allowing students and parents to manage the costs conveniently and securely within the app’s ecosystem.

“Far too many students in the Philippines are forced to put their dreams on hold, mainly because of financial limitations. With our Study Now, Pay Later program, we aim to ease that burden and help more students unlock the opportunity of a college education. This is another step toward our commitment to fair and inclusive lending, one that empowers the next generation,” said Tony Isidro, president and chief executive officer (CEO) of Fuse.

"We believe that no student should have to give up their education because of financial struggles. Through this partnership with GCash and Fuse, we're providing our students with a practical and affordable way to continue their studies, reflecting our shared commitment to making quality education more accessible to every Filipino," iPeople Inc. president Alfredo Ayala added.

iPeople, a holding company under House of Investments Inc., operates several schools, including Malayan Education System Inc., Malayan Colleges Laguna, Malayan Colleges Mindanao, Malayan High School of Science, National Teachers College and University of Nueva Caceres.

The initiative is part of a broader push by GCash to drive meaningful impact through financial solutions that are accessible, inclusive, and responsive to the real needs of Filipinos. By offering students and parents the flexibility to manage school-related costs, the Study Now, Pay Later program seeks to help expand young Filipinos’ access to higher education, pursue their dreams, and build a better future.
